I emailed my cover letter and CV to firstname.lastname@example.org The HR is friendly and usually replies within a few weeks. It is advised to apply 6 months well in advance as slots get easily filled.
All the interns were told to report at sharp 9:30 am. Khaitan & Co is located in a multi-storeyed building called Emerald House. On our first day, we were given pamphlets and brochures that informed us about all the policies of the firm. After completing the formalities interns were disbursed to different floors depending on which team they were allotted to. Direct tax is located on the 2nd floor along with the litigation teams.
Nature of Work:
The Direct tax team was small at the time when I interned comprising a total of 3-4 lawyers. However, the work was very interesting. I was engaged with challenging researches, drafting replies, drafting notices and client emails. Each intern is allotted a buddy who he/she is supposed to report to, although working with the entire team is encouraged. My buddy was an associate of the Direct Tax team who assigned various tasks to me, followed up and gave feedbacks. It was overall a wholesome internship and it ended with all interns participating in a spontaneous debate competition. The debate is adjudicated by lawyers from the firm and all interns are encouraged to participate.
Since it is located right next to the High Court, one has access to network with many lawyers and firms around. There are amazing street delicacies and small eateries around the place which makes lunchtime fun. The lawyers of the firm are friendly, approachable and talented. The work hours are balanced and expectations from interns are achievable.
Nothing as such.
